Vicar

Revd Sue Pendenque

Sue joined St Martin's as a curate in 2019.
After losing our previous vicar Bridget in January 2023, Sue stepped up to serve as Associate Minister,  leading the St Martin's team through that time of change, and on 14th January 2024 was officially licensed as the Vicar of St Martin's.


Prior to her training, she served as a children's minister in churches in Ruddington & Leicester, having previously been a primary school teacher. She has a heart to see people of all ages discover how deeply loved they are by Jesus and grow strong roots in him.

Licensed Lay Minister

Lesley Cohen

Lesley joined St Martin’s church in 1989. Licensed as a Lay Minister in 2010, she values this ministry which enables ordinary church members to play an active part in church life, especially in preaching and leading worship. Lesley believes God speaks to us richly through scripture and she hopes to convey this richness to her church family.

Licensed Lay Minister

Glenn Hickson

Glenn joined St Martin's, and was baptised here, in 2018. Since then, he has taken up leadership positions in the church, including preaching and leading Sundary services, as well as co-leading a life group. He works as a primary school teacher and is a Licensed Lay Minister.

Children & Families Minister

Gillian James

Gill has been the Children & Families minister at St Martin's since 2019. She is married to Phil and has 3 children. She has previously worked in a variety of roles supporting the learning and development of children. Her passion is to facilitate families in their own personal discipleship, to grow in their love for God, each other and creating a thriving community.

Church Administrator

Judith Walker

Judith is a local parent to secondary school aged twins. Previously a local teacher and youth worker, she now enjoys being part of the Sherwood community; working in the church office, and drawing & painting. Judith runs the church office and is a first point of contact for enquiries and church building bookings. She is available  on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings

Safeguarding Officers

Janet Kitson & Alison Rogers

The Church of England, its archbishops, bishops, clergy and leaders are committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church. 

At St Martin’s Sherwood we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously. Janet manages this area and also ensures that St Martin's Team are kept up to date with training opportunaties and requirements relevant to their roles.

Church Warden

Chris Morris

Chris found faith in 1975 aged 16. He married Chrissie in 1980; has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. He has worked in IT for 37 years and currently sets up financial systems for very large companies. He loves seeing people excel in using their gifts in both the church and the wider community

Retired Minister

Rev Denise Watkinson

After retiring from her previous position in March 2024, Denise joined St Martin’s Church in May 2025. Prior to being ordained she worked in HR. She is passionate about nurturing others to reach their full potential in Christ and believes the church community should be inclusive - where all are welcomed, loved and accepted.
